Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment (also known as endodontics) is required when the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected. The pulp contains delicate blood vessels and nerves.

Tackling infection & bacteria

When teeth are fractured, decayed, or weaken over time, bacteria can get inside the tooth and infect the pulp which can be extremely painful. Root canal treatment is an effective way of removing the bacteria and preventing the infection from recurring or spreading.

The procedure involves numbing the affected area with local anaesthetic. The dentist then cleans, shapes and fills the root canals of the affected tooth. Depending on the individual case, the procedure can be a complex one and may take some time. Typically, a root canal treatment takes about one to two hours. A second visit may be required.
